The Passionist Nuns of Pittsburgh, PA is the first community of Passionist Nuns in the US, founded 100 years ago on July 10, 1910 by
five Passionist Nuns from Tarquinia, Italy. We are a contemplative cloistered community of religious women called to stand at
the foot of the Cross with Mary near the Heart of Christ, ready to receive His love so that we might become love in the Heart of the
Church. By the charismatic grace of the Spirit, we consecrate ourselves totally by vow to the Mystery of the Passion which gives
inspiration and unity to our lives.
Rooted in the Paschal Mystery, we participate in the redemptive mission of Christ’s Passion which is the beginning of every apostolate. For the apostolate is a sharing in the salvific work of Christ which is possible only through assiduous prayer and personal sacrifice. We exercise a silent but powerful apostolate which benefits everyone by our love, prayer, and suffering in union with Christ.
